Holy Week Meditation

Close your eyes and breathe deeply, letting the words sink into the depths of your soul. Feel the weight of His bruises, the gentle touch of the heavenly Physician, who embraces the sufferings of those in need of healing.

His bruises, not merely marks of pain, but symbols of redemption, etched upon His divine form. He, the Lamb, slaughtered willingly, His love a beacon guiding Him to the altar of sacrifice.

Witness His silence before Pilate, a silence pregnant with profound meaning, a silence that speaks volumes of His love and submission. Embrace this divine silence, for within it lies the power to transform and save.

Let us not overlook the depths of His devotion, a devotion born from a love that surpasses understanding. He, who laid down His life for us, His beloved children, purchased with His own precious Blood.

Oh, sacred Church, you are the offspring of His sacrifice, cherished and adored. Let your hearts overflow with love in return for His boundless affection.

To the faithful, offer love in abundance; to the sinners, extend the hand of reconciliation. For His Blood knows no bounds, its infinite merit capable of redeeming even the most wayward soul.

In His wounds, find solace; in His sacrifice, find redemption. For He bore the iniquity of us all, a burden lifted by the weight of His love.

O God, who willed your Son to submit for our sake to the yoke of the Cross, so that you might drive from us the power of the enemy, grant us, your servants, to attain the grace of the resurrection. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. ✝

When Jesus finished all these words,[b] he said to his disciples, “You know that in two days’ time it will be Passover, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.” Matthew 26:1-3

Holy Week Meditation

In this sacred week, we find ourselves journeying alongside our Savior as He embarks on His path towards Jerusalem once more. The morning air is filled with purpose as He sets His sights on the temple, eager to continue the teachings He imparted yesterday. Yet, there is a solemnity that hangs in the air, a sense that His earthly mission is swiftly reaching its culmination. He speaks to His disciples, foretelling the imminent Pasch and His own impending crucifixion.

Along the road from Bethany to Jerusalem, a poignant sight captures the disciples' attention: the fig tree, once cursed by their Master, now stands withered. Peter, moved by this display of divine power, points it out to Jesus. In His response, Jesus reveals the profound truth that all of creation bends to the will of God, urging His followers to have unwavering faith.

Upon entering Jerusalem, Jesus is met with questioning from the religious authorities, who demand to know by what authority He acts. His response is recorded in the Gospel, but our focus remains on the pivotal events unfolding in these final days of His earthly journey, leaving the finer details to the sacred text.

As evening falls, Jesus leaves the city once more, crossing over Mount Olivet and returning to Bethany, where His blessed Mother and devoted friends await Him. In this quiet retreat, amidst the embrace of loved ones, He finds solace as He prepares for the trials that lie ahead.

Almighty ever-living God, grant us so to celebrate the mysteries of the Lord's Passion that we may merit to receive your pardon. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. ✝
