Summer weekends are for festivals--and our folks at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Ind., have been wholeheartedly participating. They're doing this to strengthen bonds between the college and the community. And they're having fun! May God bless everybody who's celebrating in the streets this summer.

A beautiful blue sky arched over the annual Rural-Urban Mass last night. It's put on every year by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati's Catholic Rural Life group. This year it was held at the Carthagena dairy farm of Doug and Sarah Franck, just across the highway from our St. Charles Center. Bishop Joseph Binzer officiated. Hundreds joined in the celebration, bringing lawn chairs from home to help create a "church" in the Francks' front yard.
The latest installment of "Missionaries on the Move in the Summertime." Our newly ordained Fr. Matt Keller, C.PP.S., traveled with a group from Emmanuel Parish in Dayton, where he is in ministry, to Steubenville Youth Conference, a three-day event for teens put on by the Franciscan University of Steubenville, last weekend. (There are five of these conferences scheduled throughout the summer.) While there, he saw other youth he knew, from his home area of the Marion Catholic Community, Maria Stein, Ohio, and St. Augustine Parish, Minster, Ohio. May God bless all young people who spend part of their summer trying to grow in wisdom!
