Fr. Jeffrey Kirch, C.PP.S.

Born: Greenwood, Indiana

Joined the Missionaries:
I entered formation in August 1998 and was definitively incorporated in May 2003. I was ordained in June 2004.

What drew you to the Missionaries of the Precious Blood?
While discerning my vocation, I was struck with the "down to earthness" of the Missionaries and the variety of ministries they were involved in.

What is your current assignment?
After spending roughly ten years in ministry at Saint Joseph's College, I accepted a new ministry as Secretary General of the C.PP.S. I am stationed in Rome at the Generalate.

What is the most challenging aspect of your assignment?
Living in a foreign country can be challenging. Everything is a little different. Also, communicating with our Missionaries around the world can be challenging due to the different languages spoken.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your assignment?
Living in a foreign country is a rewarding aspect of my assignment. Being able to walk where St. Gaspar walked is a blessing. I also enjoy my interaction with the Missionaries from the other units around the world.

What did you do before joining the Missionaries?
I entered formation immediately following graduation from College.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy reading, visiting museums, and just taking walks through the streets of Rome.

Aside from St. Gaspar, who are some of your favorite Saints?
I'd have to say St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas are my other two favorite saints.

What is your favorite prayer?
My favorite prayer is actually a hymn. Hosea (Come Back to Me) is my favorite prayer and hymn.

Hosea
by Gregory Norbert

Come back to me with all your heart, don't let fear keep us apart.
Trees do bend, tho' straight and tall; so must we to others' call.
Long have I waited for your coming home to me and living deeply our new life.

The wilderness will lead you to your heart where I will speak.
Integrity and justice with tenderness you shall know.
Long have I waited for your coming
home to me and living deeply our new life.

You shall sleep secure with peace; faithfulness will be your joy. Long have I waited for your coming home to me and living deeply our new life.

What is your favorite:
Book: Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton
Food: Anything German
Movie: Remains of the Day with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson
Holiday: Christmas Eve
TV Show: The Wonder Years

How much money would you earn on Jeopardy?
At least $20,000,000.00

Would you rather go skydiving or snorkeling?
Neither. I prefer the terra firma.
