Easter Message from the Provincial

May God bless us all with Easter joy as we marvel at the great feat of Christ, who rose from the dead and brought us with him into new life.

Dear Friends,

May God bless us all with Easter joy as we marvel at the great feat of Christ, who rose from the dead and brought us with him into new life.

When we were kids, Easter joy was a pure feeling, all wrapped up with bunnies and candy in a basket. As adults, we’re not so quick to forget the trials of the Holy Week that we just went through. Christ has won the battle, and it was a hard fight. Some of what we may be feeling is the exhilarating exhaustion of the runner who has crossed the finish line.

Without the struggle, joy can’t be as deep. For most of us, joy alone can’t change us. It’s the struggle that brings us to new realizations, new dreams and new life.  As Paul writes, “whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Cor 5: 17).

In this Easter season, let’s embrace the new life that Christ has gained for us. As Christ entered into a new life, let’s open our eyes to all that he has laid out before us. Let’s go with him, perhaps to places we have never been.

Sincerely,
V. Rev. Larry J. Hemmelgarn, C.PP.S.
Provincial Director
