Today is the feast day of the great missionary, St. Francis Xavier. He is the patron saint of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. Here, Fr. Matt Keller, C.PP.S., reflects on what it is to be a Missionary who is also a preacher.

As we enter the season of Advent it seems that more than ever, we need to watch...Rather than bemoan the absence of the familiar routines and hectic times before Christmas, we might watch for new opportunities.

A Thanksgiving message from our Provincial Director Fr. Jeffrey Kirch, C.PP.S.

On this Thanksgiving, my prayer is that we still find a way to share what we have with those who need it, that we still reach out in some way to our family, that we define family in the broadest possible terms, and that we spend some time in prayer to thank the God who gives us, each day, something to be thankful for.

In Ezekiel the Lord God personally looks after the sheep and lovingly cares for them. Whereas in St. Matthew’s Gospel, we sheep are the ones called to care for those in need. Instead of God caring for us, we are told that when we truly tend to others, we are actually tending to the Lord. Thus, “I was thirsty, and you gave me drink” (Matthew 25:35).

Rest in peace, good and faithful servant. Brother Daniel Eisenman, C.PP.S., died on Sunday morning. He was 88 and had some health issues, but he continued to golf in his final month. He was constantly of service to his Church and religious Community. May we all honor our commitments the way Brother Dan did.

How do we invest what we have been given?
First of all, we recognize how valuable the gift is.
Second, we recognize our responsibility to invest the gift.
Third, we use the graces we have been given
to build up the kingdom of God
here and now.
