The Missionaries of the Precious Blood is not the only congregation devoted to the spirituality of the Precious Blood of Jesus. There are also a number of women’s communities who share our spirituality.
Working with three of these congregations, the Missionaries are part of the Precious Blood Leadership Conference (PBLC). The PBLC sponsors special events to celebrate and explore Precious Blood spirituality. It has made a special project of advancing human rights for all of God’s people. And it offers spiritual guidance through daily Advent and Lenten reflections. To learn more about the many ministries of the PBLC, please visit the PBLC website.
Women’s congregations that are members of the PBLC include the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC), the Sisters of the Precious Blood of Dayton, Ohio, and the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood of O’Fallon, Missouri.
The Adorers of the Blood of Christ were founded by St. Maria de Mattias in 1834 in Acuto, Italy. St. Maria had heard the preaching of St. Gaspar del Bufalo, the founder of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, when she was a young woman. She was later inspired to establish the first of the sister communities to be a part of the Precious Blood family.
The Sisters of the Precious Blood of Dayton, Ohio, were founded by Anna Maria Brunner, the mother of Fr. Francis de Sales Brunner, who brought both the Missionaries and the sisters to the United States in 1844. They have worked side by side with the Missionaries at many ministry sites.
The Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, founded by Theresa Weber, work in a variety of ministries around the world. Their motherhouse is in O’Fallon, Mo.
These congregations also work with each other in vocation efforts, in the formation of their candidates, and in encouraging the formation of their lay associates.
