Inquiry formation: When a man expresses an interest in discerning a vocation with the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, he is invited to enter into a period of inquiry. During this time he is introduced to the mission, Community life, and Precious Blood spirituality. He meets regularly with a vocation sponsor, attends discernment weekends, and visits our house of initial formation in Dayton, Ohio. He is encouraged to be involved in some form of ministry and to into spiritual direction.
During this time, the inquirer may begin the application process, which includes psychological, behavioral and medical assessments. The application is reviewed by an admissions committee, which makes recommendations to the Provincial Director as to his admittance into initial formation. Inquiry generally lasts from six months to two years.
If you are interested in joining our formation program as an inquirer please contact the director of vocation ministry at vocation@cpps-preciousblood.org

who have not yet
obtained a bachelor’s degree usually complete
their undergraduate education during this time.
Special Formation: After completing Initial Formation, a candidate enters Special Formation, which lasts about 15 months. Candidates travel to other provinces and learn more about the Community and Precious Blood women’s communities. Special Formation candidates also participate in community life internships, living with members of the Community who are engaged in fulltime ministry, while reflecting more deeply on the call to be a Missionary of the Precious Blood. At the completion of Special Formation, a candidate may be temporarily incorporated into the Community through the promise of fidelity and the bond of charity.
Advanced Formation: After Special Formation, the candidate enters Advanced Formation, during which he more specifically focuses on his future ministry in the Church. The candidate continues to live in community, develop spiritually and minister to the people of God, while at the same time participating in training as a priest or brother. For priesthood candidates this includes the completion of the Masters of Divinity program at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Brother candidates participate in various programs that prepare them for active ministry in the Church. This might include studies in a particular area of interest.
