A Celebration of the C.PP.S. Missionary Spirit

As part of the Precious Blood Bicentennial on August 15, 2015, Missionaries and lay people were invited to talk about how the C.PP.S. missionary spirit is lived out in many ways in missions, parishes and other sites where the C.PP.S. is in ministry.

Part 1 The Third Wave of Mission: Dr. Mike Gable

Parish twinning, short-term lay missionary work and missionary or cultural immersion trips are all part of the Third Wave of Mission, as explained by Dr. Mike Gable, director of the Mission Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The result of the Third Wave is a "tremendous exchange of ideas in our world."

Part 2 "They Roll Up Their Sleeves and Get It Done:" Mark Giesige

Mark Giesige, director of mission advancement for the Cincinnati Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, talks about the humble, hard-working Congregation (and how maybe they're a little too humble).

Part 3 Seeing the World in the Different Way: Fr. Tom Hemm, C.PP.S.

Our C.PP.S. parishes here in the U.S. are growing in their understanding of other cultures, according to Fr. Tom Hemm, C.PP.S., pastor of five parishes in the St. Henry, Ohio, cluster, and former missionary to Chile.

Part 4 Opening Up a Path: Fr. David Kelly, C.PP.S.

Fr. Dave Kelly, C.PP.S., has spent many years offering hope and support to at-risk youth. Here, he traces the path of how he became involved in that ministry.

Part 5 The Command is to Go Out: Fr. Bill Nordenbrock, C.PP.S.

It's not enough for church folks to sit around in small groups and hold hands. They have to go out--because the Church is mission, says Fr. Bill Nordenbrock, C.PP.S., our moderator general.

Part 6 To Dig a Well: Paul Dwenger, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Montezuma, Ohio

Parishioner Paul Dwenger of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Montezuma, Ohio, talks about the impact of digging a well in the La Labor region of Guatemala, a project sponsored by his parish.

Part 7 Average Joes Trying to Help People: Ron Niekamp of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Parishioner Ron Niekamp of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Montezuma, Ohio, talks about the many efforts that parish has made over the years on behalf of its sister parish in La Labor, Guatemala.

Part 8 It's About Sharing What We Have: Donna and Doug Heyne

Donna and Doug Heyne, parishioners from Immaculate Conception Parish in Celina, Ohio, talk about their experiences visiting their sister parish in the La Labor region of Guatemala.

Part 9 Making an Impact: Tom Muhlenkamp, Immaculate Conception, Celina, Ohio

Technical difficulties prevented us from capturing Tom's witness talk but he outlined the many ways that IC's mission commission reaches out to others.
