A Prayer before the Lamb Once Slain

Lord Jesus,
you are the Lamb of God
who takes away the sins of the world;
you are the lamb once slain who lives forever
and is seated on the throne;
you are the lamb in whose blood
our robes have been made white.

With the great multitude in heaven
we cry out:
"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain
to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength,
honor and glory and blessing."

We make this prayer in Your name,
Jesus the Christ.
Amen.

Thank you to all those who serve this country, we honor you.

The Missionaries of the Precious Blood had more chaplains during WWII in the military per capita than any other religious community. Fr. Clem Falter was the first chaplain to lose his life during the war.

Most Holy Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — I worship you with profound love and adoration. I bow before your greatness and perfect holiness. You are the one God in three persons. I give to you my life, all that I am, and all that I will be. Please take me to yourself and do with me what you choose. I am yours, my God. Do with me what you will so that you will be glorified in my life. Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on me. Jesus, I trust in you.

On May 23, 2024, Pope Francis officially recognized a miracle attributed to Giovanni Merlini, advancing Merlini’s cause for beatification. Giovanni Merlini, a revered 19th-century Italian priest and member of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, has been venerated for his deep spirituality and dedication to the Church's mission. The recognized miracle, which involves the unexplained healing of a gravely ill child, has undergone rigorous investigation and validation by the Vatican's Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

Pope Francis' decree is a significant milestone in Merlini's path to sainthood, reflecting the Church's acknowledgment of his intercessory power and the impact of his life and works. Beatification, the penultimate step before canonization, allows for Merlini to be publicly venerated and recognized as "Blessed."

The announcement has been met with joy and celebration among the faithful, particularly within the Missionaries of the Precious Blood community, who regard Merlini as an inspirational figure. The beatification ceremony is expected to draw pilgrims from around the world, eager to honor Blessed Giovanni Merlini and seek his intercession. Pope Francis' decree not only honors Merlini's legacy, but also reinforces the enduring power of faith and prayer in the lives of believers.

By Fr. Joe Nassal, C.PP.S. Advent is an adventure into the very mysteries of life. Though we associate Advent as a season of new beginnings, since 2010, I also identify Advent with endings. My younger sister, Mary, died on the first Sunday of Advent in 2010 at the age...
