A message for the Solemnity of the Precious Blood from our Provincial Director Fr. Jeffrey Kirch, C.PP.S.
Blood is very ambiguous. It can point to life and to death. Blood spilled in violence on our streets is a powerful sign of evil and death. In our world today it is easy to be overcome by this side of our understanding of blood.
But there is another side to our understanding of blood. Blood can point to life. When tragedy strikes and people line up to donate blood, they are in fact donating life. The blood that courses through our bodies is essential to life.
We sing today in the Psalm, “Your blood, O Lord, is the source of life.” That Precious Blood, shed on the Cross for us, has redeemed us. Christ has taken a sign of evil and death, the shedding of blood on a cross, and triumphed over it. The Blood of the Lamb has conquered evil and become the source of life for us.
I pray that we, Missionaries of the Precious Blood, Companions, and friends, remain steadfast in our proclamation of the power of the Blood of Christ, the source of our life.
Glory to the Blood of Jesus, now and forever!

La sangre es algo ambigua. Puede indicar tanto la vida como la muerte. La sangre derramada en la violencia de nuestras calles es signo poderoso del mal y de la muerte. En nuestro mundo de hoy es fácil dejarse llevar por este lado de nuestro entendimiento de la sangre.
Pero hay otro lado de nuestro entendimiento de la sangre. La sangre puede indicar la vida. Cuando ocurre una tragedia y la gente se pone en fila para donar sangre, de hecho están donando la vida. La sangre que corre por nuestros cuerpos es esencial para la vida.
Hoy cantamos en el salmo, “Tu sangre, Señor, es la fuente de vida.” La Sangre Preciosa, derramada en la Cruz por nosotros, nos ha redimido. Cristo ha cogido un signo de mal y de muerte, el derramamiento de la sangre en la cruz, y ha triunfado sobre él. La Sangre del Cordero ha conquistado el mal y llegado a ser una fuente de vida por nosotros.
Yo ruego a Dios que nosotros, los Misioneros de la Preciosa Sangre, Asociados, y amigos, permanezcamos fieles en nuestra proclamación del poder de la Sangre de Cristo, la fuente de nuestra vida.
¡Gloria a la Sangre de Jesús, ahora y por siempre!
