The Catholic Media Association is helping to promote the film Wildcat, about Southern Gothic writer Flannery O’Connor, starring Maya Hawke of the Netflick series Stranger Things, and directed by her father, Academy Award® nominee Ethan Hawke. Not without controversy, Wildcat chronicles O’Connor’s belief that devoting oneself to making art is an egoless and honest act of piety, even as the writer herself struggled with her own racist beliefs vs. the practice of her Catholic faith. According to producers, Wildcat was made out of love for O’Connor’s work, as well as for the flawed, human, paradoxical genius who authored it. Wildcat is playing in select theaters nationwide in May and June. Contact screenings@carmelcommunications.com to request showtimes or a group screening. #wildcatmovie www.wildcat.oscilloscope.net
