Fr. Bicentennial Mass:

Over 1,700 people were in attendance as the Missionaries of the Precious Blood celebrated their bicentennial with an outdoor Mass at St. Charles Center, Carthagena, Ohio, on August 15, 2015, the actual 200th anniversary of the founding of the Congregation. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati was the presider and Fr. William Nordenbrock, C.PP.S., the moderator general, was the homilist.

Part 1 - Introduction Before Mass
Fr. Larry Hemmelgarn, C.PP.S., provincial director, welcomes all to the Precious Blood Bicentennial Mass at St. Charles Center on August 15, 2015.
Part 2 - Opening Procession
Dozens of Missionaries of the Precious Blood, four bishops, Knights of St. John and Knights of Columbus take part in the opening procession of the Precious Blood Bicentennial Mass as the congregation sings the hymn commissioned for the bicentennial, “Of the Many, One.”
Part 3 - Gloria, First Reading & Responsorial Psalm
Archbishop Dennis Schnurr presides at the Precious Blood Bicentennial Mass at St. Charles Center on August 15. Br. Joseph Fisher, C.PP.S., proclaims the first reading from Exodus.
Part 4 - Second Reading, Gospel, Homily
Companion (lay associate) Margaret Saliga proclaims the second reading, from Hebrews. Deacon Daniel Lowery proclaims the gospel. Fr. William Nordenbrock, C.PP.S., moderator general, preaches the homily.
Part 5 - Profession of Faith, Prayer of the Faithful, Offertory Procession
General intercessions read by Br. Juan Acuña, C.PP.S.; Amicus Fred Baumer; Companion Jean Borgert; Companion Mark Giesige; and Sr. Joyce Lehman, C.PP.S., president of the Sisters of the Precious Blood. Participating the the offertory procession: Sr. Martha Bertke, C.PP.S.; Fr. Leonard Kostka, C.PP.S., oldest living C.PP.S. member; Companions James and Patricia Large; Companion Al O’Dell.
Part 6 - Eucharistic Prayer, Sign of Peace

Part 7 - Lamb of God
The combined choir leads the congregation in the Lamb of God from the Mass of St. Gaspar del Bufalo (Fr. Ralph Verdi, C.PP.S., composer).
Part 8 - Communion Reflection Hymn
The combined choir sings one of the communion hymns, “The Supper of the Lord.” The choir of the Church of the Resurrection, Cincinnati, sings the communion meditation hymn, “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus.”
Part 9 - Thanks and Closing Prayer
Fr. Larry Hemmelgarn, C.PP.S., provincial director, offers thanks and comments at the close of the bicentennial Mass. The combined choir leads the congregation in the closing hymn, “Glory Be to Jesus.”

A Celebration of the C.PP.S. Missionary Spirit:

As part of the Precious Blood Bicentennial on August 15, 2015, Missionaries and lay people were invited to talk about how the C.PP.S. missionary spirit is lived out in many ways in missions, parishes and other sites where the C.PP.S. is in ministry.

Part 1 The Third Wave of Mission: Dr. Mike Gable
Parish twinning, short-term lay missionary work and missionary or cultural immersion trips are all part of the Third Wave of Mission, as explained by Dr. Mike Gable, director of the Mission Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The result of the Third Wave is a “tremendous exchange of ideas in our world.”
Part 2 "They Roll Up Their Sleeves and Get It Done:" Mark Giesige
Mark Giesige, director of mission advancement for the Cincinnati Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, talks about the humble, hard-working Congregation (and how maybe they’re a little too humble).
Part 3 Seeing the World in the Different Way: Fr. Tom Hemm, C.PP.S.
Our C.PP.S. parishes here in the U.S. are growing in their understanding of other cultures, according to Fr. Tom Hemm, C.PP.S., pastor of five parishes in the St. Henry, Ohio, cluster, and former missionary to Chile.
