We asked some of our Missionaries about the biggest challenges and the unexpected joys of these strange days. The following insights were provided by Fr. Antonio Baus, C.PP.S., pastor of St. James the Less Church in Columbus, Ohio:

What’s been the biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge is to try to be in touch with our parishioners. It is important to use digital media to meet such challenge.I think parishioners appreciate to hear from their parish, since for the time being, nobody is allow to set foot on our church facilities. (View Masses celebrated in English and Spanish on the St. James the Less website, stjames-cpps.org. Click on MENU then OUR MASSES.)

What’s been an unexpected joy?

People are being very kind to us and concerned that we are okay. We have people bringing meals to our table some days of the week. Also, people on our staff are being of help as they work from home.

How are you caring for your own spiritual, physical and mental health these days?

We have more time for private prayer, reading and walking around the block for exercise. I feel privileged for being able to celebrate Mass, while the vast majority cannot be present at Mass.
