Name:
Gregory John Evers (I prefer Greg)

Born:   (City, State, Country)
Maria Stein, Ohio, U.S.A.

Joined the Missionaries: (Year)
I began formation in the Fall of 2014. Temporarily incorporated on August 18, 2018

What drew you to the Missionaries of the Precious Blood?
The Missionaries of the Precious Blood were the first ones that I got in touch with when I started discerning religious life. I started conversations with the pastor of my home parish who was a Precious Blood priest, who then put me in touch with other members of the community. Over time I began to develop a relationship with the members and I began to feel drawn to living the way of life that the members were living.

What is your current assignment?
I continue in the same role that I have had for most of my life. I am currently a student at Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago, IL.

What is the most challenging aspect of your assignment?
The most challenging aspect of my assignment would have to be the assignments I receive at school. One can only take so much Karl Rahner before going completely insane.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your assignment?
The most rewarding aspect of my current assignment is coming to a deeper understanding of my faith and how to live that out in my life. I would also say that I equally enjoy the community that I have at the formation house.

What did you do before joining the Missionaries?
I finished the application process for the formation program. Before that I worked as a welder and I worked on my family’s farm.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy watching movies, listening to music (classical, 70’s & 80’s, anything that has a catchy tune), hopelessly cheering on my sportsball teams (Reds, Bengals, Buckeyes) and playing board/card games.

Aside from St. Gaspar, what are some of your favorite Saints?
St. Francis of Assisi for his simplicity.
St. Thomas Aquinas for his intercession on my thesis project.
The saints next door, as termed by Pope Francis.

What is your favorite prayer?
The Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.”

What is your favorite:
Book: Star Wars: Darth Bane Trilogy
Food: Chicago-style pizza
Movie: anything Star Wars related
Holiday: Christmas
TV Show: Sherlock

How much could you earn on Jeopardy?
Maybe $200 and a lucky Daily Double.

Would you rather go skydiving or snorkeling?
Snorkeling without question. Why would I jump out of a perfectly functioning airplane, are you crazy?!?!
